December 13. Today started to snow. It is the first snow fall and it is so abundant, you can’t see a few feet away. My car sits under a pile of snow, streets are clogged, transportation is blocked.
Hardly, I got to the office, by swimming through the snow and ice floes. I almost forgot how a tough winter looks. A perfect season for skiing, hot wine, brandy boiled and campfire. Smells at holiday, however there is so much work to do so I cannot think at vacation yet. As each year, just before the holidays, I have more work than usual.
Operational Meeting at 9:30. The meeting room is empty. Snow blocked traffic across the city and no one except me managed to arrive at work. The meeting is postponed for an hour. “I am looking forward” to meet with the Sales Expert, who the day before had sent a wrong information to one of our business partner. CEO treated his mistake very superficially, arguing it was a “joke”. A joke that we would be put us in a delicate position not to be able to honor our promises and thus the loss of the partnership. In attempt to correct the error, one day before I met the partner representative, in order to clarify the technical clauses in the contract.
CEO wasn’t too impressed by my initiative to “repair the Expert’s error” and, contrary my expectations, I was threatened to be fired. The gang of Experts, that hated me to death, has exulted.
I left the meeting angry. Outside, the snow had stopped. The city of strange beauty had turned to stone. The cold shower I had just received during the meeting, made me forget the beauty of winter. My colleagues invited me in the park to a fight with snowballs, but I am not in the mood to enjoy the spirit of winter. Today made me hate the first snow.
